Appletree Farm is a small-diversified farm in the Pacific Northwest. You can find us in Eugene, Oregon. Our small flock of Gotland sheep is an integral part of our farm ecosystem, providing composted manure for our gardens (to provide shares of produce for our CSA), improving our pasture and land, and providing wool, and meat for our family and our community.
We raise Gotland sheep in a no-waste scheme: Breeding stock, fiber pets, raw wool, yarns, roving, lamb, pelts.
At shearing our wool gets sorted into different groups for value added products that include: felted items for the home, yarn to make knitted items, rug yarn to make rugs, dryer balls, locks for crafts, wool pellets for gardens, wool to insulate small projects….
We have pelts available all year round (processed in the US, Sweden and NZ), we sell pelts for different uses including home décor and yoga mats. We are developing a line of small benches using Gotland pelts. (see a two-sitter bench on our website).
We have been working with imported genetics (through AI and ET) since 2015 to improve our Gotland flock. We aim at helping others start small flocks of Gotland sheep, as well as we are part of a small collaborative effort/alliance to promote the Gotland breed.
At the core of our work with this breed is the welfare of our animals at all levels. We love and care for all of our sheep greatly.
We offer a farmstay experience.
We are always happy to talk about Gotland sheep with future or current Gotland breeders. Reach out to us with any questions pertaining to Gotland sheep or Gotland wool, we are here to help.
